How to Play Steel Crossfire
Modes, factions, forms, and match flow explained for Roblox PvP.
Steel Crossfire drops you into fast robot-versus-robot combat where every fighter can shift between three forms: Bot, Vehicle, and Jet. Matches pit Valorians against Reavers on compact maps built for vertical flanks and objective fights. Understanding how Team Deathmatch and Domination score points—and when to transform—is the difference between topping the leaderboard and respawning in a losing spawn trap.
Game Overview
Developed by Marmot’s Oven on Roblox, Steel Crossfire is a third-person transforming PvP shooter. There is no single-player campaign; every session is online multiplayer. You pick a robot from the launch roster—Pointrunner, Revv, Bastion, Centurion, Hardline, Beater, Grand Beater, or Super Centurion—then queue into TDM or Domination.
Shards earned from matches fund unlocks, cosmetics, and Battle Pass tiers. Season 1 is active now; pairing match income with Active Codes is the fastest way to expand your roster early. If you have never opened the game, read Getting Started first for install steps and HUD basics.
Factions: Valorians vs Reavers
Both teams share the same transform mechanics but often differ in visual design and spawn-side map approach. Valorians and Reavers are balanced mirrors—faction choice is mostly aesthetic and community preference unless future patches add faction-specific modifiers. Pick the side your friends queue on; coordinated teams beat solo stat padding every time.
Learn your spawn routes on each map. Reaver flanks that work on one side often mirror for Valorians on the opposite lane. Dying repeatedly on the same choke usually means you are pushing in the wrong form; see How to Transform for swap timing fixes.
The Three Forms
Bot form is your default humanoid robot shape. It offers the most precise aim, best access to cover, and stable damage at medium range. Most firefights start and end in Bot because abilities and primary weapons are tuned for grounded combat.
Vehicle form trades some precision for speed, ramming pressure, and wider hitboxes. Vehicles excel at crossing open ground, crashing capture points, and escaping when Jet cooldown is not ready. They are loud targets—use them for commits, not idle wandering.
Jet form adds flight, burst mobility, and aerial angles. Jets reposition faster than any ground unit but expose you to focused anti-air focus fire. Domination rewards Jets that touch a point, force a swap, and leave before the enemy team collapses on you.
Transformation is not instant invulnerability. Practice swaps in TDM before relying on them in contested Domination zones. Full form strategy lives in How to Transform.
Team Deathmatch (TDM)
TDM is the simplest onboarding mode. Your team earns points for eliminations; the first side to the score limit—or the highest count when time expires—wins. There are no capture points, so map control matters only insofar as it creates better spawn angles for picks.
Use TDM to learn character kits without objective pressure. Test which form each robot prefers: Centurion might brawl in Bot, while Revv might cycle Vehicle for chase downs. When your K/D stabilizes, move to Domination for richer Shards payouts and team play. How to Get Shards breaks down which modes pay best per hour.
TDM tips that carry everywhere:
- Stick with teammates—focus fire deletes transforms mid-animation.
- Reload and swap forms behind hard cover, not in open lanes.
- Watch the scoreboard timer; blowout matches are good times to experiment with off-meta picks from the Best Starters list.
Domination
Domination adds rotating capture zones. Standing on a point generates score for your team; holding multiple zones accelerates the win. Raw eliminations still matter because dead players cannot cap, but slaying while ignoring objectives loses games.
Each map features zones that favor different forms. Ground Bots stabilize a point; Vehicles crash in to break enemy stacks; Jets contest high ground above the circle. Read Domination Tips for rotation timing, ult economy, and comeback plays.
If your team splits three ways on three points with no coordination, expect a loss even with top fraggers. Call out which point needs a Vehicle body and which needs Jet harassment.
Match Flow From Queue to Results
- Lobby — Select mode, party up, choose your robot and loadout cosmetics.
- Spawn — You appear at your faction spawn in Bot form with full abilities off cooldown unless respawning mid-match.
- Mid-game — Fight for map control, transform as needed, bank Shards from performance.
- End screen — Review score, personal stats, Shards earned, and Battle Pass progress.
Season 1 Battle Pass XP applies from most completed matches. Planning pass tiers alongside your daily Shards goals keeps progression steady—see Season 1 Battle Pass for the full reward track.
Controls and Settings
Steel Crossfire supports customizable controls on PC, mobile, and console. Default bindings work, but transform buttons on awkward keys cause mis-swaps under pressure. Open settings and compare with our Controls reference so your layout matches pro community recommendations.
Raise look sensitivity slightly if Jet form feels sluggish; lower it if Bot aim shakes at range. There is no one-size profile—tune per device.
Economy During Matches
Every finished match drips Shards based on performance, mode, and event multipliers. Codes grant lump sums without playing. Redeem codes on the Active Codes page before long sessions so boosters apply to your full play block.
Do not hoard Shards on a robot you have not tested. Use the Best Starters tier list to buy proven picks first, then branch into stylistic choices like Grand Beater or Super Centurion when your fundamentals are solid.

Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the most common Steel Crossfire questions.
What modes are available in Steel Crossfire?
The core modes are Team Deathmatch and Domination. TDM scores eliminations only; Domination adds capture points that accelerate team score when held.
Can I play Steel Crossfire solo?
Yes. Matchmaking fills teams with other players online. Solo queue works, but grouping with friends on voice comms makes Domination and transform combos much easier.
Which form should I use most as a beginner?
Stay in Bot form until you understand gunfights and cover. Add Vehicle for rotations and Jet for escapes once you read the transform guide and remap controls.
Do Valorians and Reavers have different abilities?
At launch both factions use the same robot kits and transform rules. Choice is mainly team assignment and visuals, not a permanent stat advantage.
How do I earn Shards while learning the game?
Finish TDM and Domination matches, redeem promo codes from our Active Codes page, and complete daily objectives. The How to Get Shards guide lists the best hourly routes.
Is Steel Crossfire pay-to-win?
Battle Pass and cosmetics monetize progression skins, but core robot gameplay is earned with Shards from matches and codes. Skill, form timing, and team play decide fights more than spend.
