How to Unlock Characters in Steel Crossfire

Shards, Season 1 Battle Pass, and codes—the legitimate paths to new bots.

Last updated:

Steel Crossfire by Marmot’s Oven ships a deep roster—Pointrunner, Revv, Bastion, Hardline starters plus premium chassis like Centurion, Centurion Major, Beater, Grand Beater, Super Centurion, and Skirmish. Nothing in this guide requires scripts or third-party sellers. You unlock characters through Shards, Season 1 Battle Pass tiers, occasional shop bundles, and promo codes that fund your economy. This page maps every legitimate path, spending order, and links to Active Codes, Season 1 Battle Pass, and How to Get Shards.

Exact Shard prices change with patches—always confirm in the Roblox experience shop before spending.

Method 1: Shards (primary unlock currency)

Shards drop from completed TDM and Domination matches, dailies, and Battle Pass tiers. They are the main way to buy Beater, Centurion, Centurion Major, and other shop entries.

Efficient Shard loop:

  1. Redeem every working code on Active CodesSEASON1, 20KLIKES, UPDATE, 20KLIKES1.
  2. Read How to Get Shards for Domination objective focus vs TDM warm-ups.
  3. Spend on one mid-tier unlock that matches your role—tank (Centurion line) or bruiser (Beater line)—before buying cosmetics.
  4. Revisit Character Tier List so you do not fund a C-tier flex pick.

Suggested first purchases after starters:

Method 2: Season 1 Battle Pass

Season 1 (SEASON 1 experience branding) adds a pass track with Shards, boosters, and cosmetics—not always direct “unlock this bot” buttons, but pass Shards accelerate purchases.

Steps:

  1. Open the Battle Pass UI in the Steel Crossfire lobby.
  2. Compare free vs premium track value on Season 1 Battle Pass guide.
  3. Play Domination or TDM during SEASON1 XP boosters so tier-ups overlap productive sessions.
  4. Bank pass Shards until you hit the price of your target unlock—impulse buys waste tier drip.

Premium pass is optional. Free-track players still unlock characters via Shards given enough time and codes.

Method 3: Promo codes (economy boost, not direct unlocks)

Current codes grant Shards and boosters—not instant Super Centurion buttons:

CodeTypical reward
SEASON1 / Season1500 Shards + 24h Shard + XP boosters
20KLIKES500 Shards
UPDATE500 Shards
20KLIKES1500 Shards

Redeem via the lobby gift icon—How to Redeem. Codes stack your unlock timeline; they rarely grant exclusive bots outright.

Method 4: Robux shop bundles (optional)

Marmot’s Oven may sell Robux bundles during events (Winter / MEDICS historically mentioned discounts and gifting). Robux paths skip grind but do not replace skill checks. Confirm you want gameplay unlocks vs cosmetics before purchasing—Winter skins for Pointrunner, Hardline, Beater, and Centurion Major were cosmetic during the Winter update.

Unlock order by playstyle

Defensive main: Bastion (free) → Centurion → Centurion Major or Super Centurion.

Aggressive main: Pointrunner/Revv (free) → Skirmish or Beater → Grand Beater.

Range main: Hardline (free) → evaluate Centurion Major for flex anchor or stay Hardline for TDM angles.

Never skip starter mastery—Best Starters exists because unlocks do not fix bad T transform timing.

What you cannot unlock with scripts

Loadstrings promising free Grand Beater or infinite Shards are scams covered in Scripts Hub. They risk bans and never grant real currency. Only use:

  • In-game shop + Shards
  • Battle Pass tiers
  • Official codes from Active Codes

Faction note

Valorians and Reavers share unlocks. Faction pick does not gate Beater or Centurion—see Factions guide.

After you unlock

  1. Run five TDM matches testing all three forms — Team Deathmatch guide.
  2. Practice E melee and Q parry — Melee & Parry guide.
  3. Remap controls — Controls.
  4. Track balance changes — Latest Updates.

Unlock characters by playing Steel Crossfire, not by shortcut tabs. Stack codes, pass tiers, and smart Shard buys—then prove the new chassis in Season 1 lobbies.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common Steel Crossfire questions.

What is the fastest way to unlock new bots in Steel Crossfire?

Redeem all Active Codes for Shards and boosters, then grind Domination with objective focus while boosters run. Spend Shards on one mid-tier unlock that fits your role before buying cosmetics.

Does the Battle Pass unlock characters directly?

Season 1 pass tiers primarily grant Shards, boosters, and cosmetics. Those Shards fund shop unlocks—see our Season 1 Battle Pass guide for tier planning.

Which characters are free at the start?

Starters include Pointrunner, Revv, Bastion, and Hardline without Shard purchases. Exact lobby UI may vary—confirm in-game on first login.

Can codes unlock Super Centurion instantly?

No. Codes like SEASON1 and 20KLIKES grant Shards and boosters, not direct premium bot unlocks. Save Shards until you can afford shop prices.

Should I buy Centurion or Beater first?

Buy Centurion if you anchor objectives after Bastion practice. Buy Beater if you prefer melee aggression after Pointrunner or Revv. Read Bastion & Centurion and Hardline & Beater tier pages first.

Do unlocks differ between Valorians and Reavers?

No. Shards and shop unlocks are account-wide. Faction only changes team assignment and cosmetics.
